My Story
Hi I’m Melissa and I’ve been helping businesses and regional economies for over 30 years through marketing, events and connecting people. I have an uncanny knack for knowing your USP and seeing beyond your current business model. More recently, I’ve shared this ‘real world’ experience as a university supervisor and lecturer, specialising in entrepreneurship, sustainability and business start up. I’m also an intuitive empath, mum, nature lover and have been a spiritual wisdom seeker for over 25 years - living the classic ‘wounded healer’ path of learning and healing through my own life journey. Thanks soul contract! I am also a keen herbalist and have trained in many modalities that I can draw on intuitively during our sessions. It feels big and scary sometimes to show all these parts of myself publicly and I certainly don’t consider myself to be a leader. But like many others in these times of change and expansion, I am driven by a higher purpose to step up, share my knowledge, and lead the way. I also know that when we try to do something that doesn’t reflect our full authentic selves, it doesn’t flow.
That’s how Heart Leaders was born.
I am very fortunate to have supported 100s of businesses across the world - from charities and sole traders whose marketing budgets ran on the sniff of an oily rag, to big corporations where my annual spend ran into millions. I also ran my own marketing consultancy for many years (on my own) and I’ve seen first-hand how difficult it can be to turn a side hustle or something you are passionate about, into a business.
Sustaining the motivation and energy around it is reeeeeally hard - that’s why having a mentor to be accountable to is so helpful. And having a community of like-minded people to work with or even just have a rant to, is the support we as humans all need. We are not meant to do life alone - professionally or personally.
